The local initiative, which launched earlier this year, allows people who don’t feel comfortable using the existing services to have someone from the vaccine programme outreach team visit and administer the jab.
The new, variant-busting Covid-19 vaccine will also be available via the vaccine at home service to those who are eligible when the rollout begins in September.

Jane Scattergood, lead for the vaccination programme in Lancashire and South Cumbria, said: “There are many people who haven’t yet come forward for their Covid-19 vaccine, or are now eligible for their next booster, and we want to make it as easy as possible for them to come forward for their jab.
“We know there are still people shielding or just uncertain about leaving their house, as well as those for whom a trip to a vaccine centre may be a struggle. This service is for those people, and we’re only too happy to come and visit them in a place that is more comfortable for them.
“Covid-19 is still around and can make people seriously ill, so a vaccine or a booster – including one of the new, next generation boosters – will be the best protection for you and your family.”
